Vertical Logic was awarded works to conduct bolt replacement on the Midrex Tower on site. Specific bolts were designated as structural components to the overhead crawl beam which is used as a lifting structure and therefore had to be made safe for use.
Works was completed using a combination of scaffold work and rope access work.
Scope of works included:
- Removal of rusted / failed bolts by grinder.
- Prepare surface 100x100mm around bolt location. Preparations included the use of needle guns for highly pitted areas and flapper discs for flat surfaces.
- Degrease surface using MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone)
- Pressure Wash Area
- Apply primer and two top coats using Sigma spec’d paints to prepared surfaces and newly installed bolts.
- Torque bolts to specification.
