NDT Inspections

Vertical Logic specialise in work at height projects with use of internationally recognised rope access techniques. We employ and train experienced personnel in various offshore related trades. Vertical Logic Offshore artisans are all qualified IRATA rope access technicians with offshore survival certificates, medical certificates, passports & inoculations.
NDT inspection assists decision makers in gaining knowledge into the structural integrity of any metal structure, should it be a weld joint, boiler tank, structural support beam, or any other load-bearing metal structure, which is of high importance. We offer the following NDT inspection using ground crews as well as rope access crews:

NDT Inspections

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)

This inspection method is used to detect surface and subsurface discontinuities in ferroelectric metals. The reason for ferroelectric metals is this method uses a yoke that induces an electromagnetic current through the substrate and if it is non-conductible, then false results will be given.

Dye Penetration Inspection

This is a widely applied and low-cost inspection method used to locate surface-breaking defects in all non-porous materials. The penetrant may be applied to all non-ferrous materials and ferrous materials, although for ferrous components magnetic-particle inspection is often used instead for its subsurface detection capability. LPI is used to detect casting, forging and welding surface defects such as hairline cracks, surface porosity, leaks in new products, and fatigue cracks on in-service components.

Ultra-sonic Inspection

This is widely used when doing thickness gauging on any high priority structures, for example, pipes or tanks. Thickness gauging is a reliable way in which to test critical assets and gain insight into future maintenance requirements.

Corrosion Inspection & Repairs

In the offshore environment, corrosion maintenance is critical to ensuring the structural integrity and longevity of assets. We are approved applicators for the top marine coating suppliers who develop specifications to ensure that coatings are purpose fit and provide long term solutions. This provides our clients ease of mind in knowing that repairs have been carried out successfully and to specification.

In cases where rust has occurred on high priority structures, NDT testing can be carried out prior to coating, using Ultra-Sonic Testing to test the thickness of the method and determine whether it’s safe to stay in operation which will be determined by an engineer.

Visual Inspections

Visual inspections are critical pre and post maintenance services. Through a combination of photographs and location reporting we are able to provide decision makers with accurate information on the state of an asset that is in most circumstances inaccessible.

Visual Inspections

Photographs are taken with a high-resolution camera as to provide the best quality when handed over to the client for inspection of severity.

Visual inspections can also be carried out on work that has been recently completed, yet out of sight from the client. This helps the client to be able to approve that the work was completed to specification and in a professional manner.
